Three types of bloat: Filler phrases (red) — verbose expressions like "in order to" or "at this point in time." Clichés (amber) — overused idioms and business jargon like "think outside the box." Passive voice (purple) — constructions like "was completed" instead of "completed." Hover any highlight to see a replacement suggestion. Cut word count →

How many phrases are checked?
Over 50 filler phrases, 150+ clichés, and a comprehensive passive voice detector with an adjective exception list to reduce false positives. The dictionaries are continuously refined to catch the most common bloat in professional writing.

Can I replace a phrase with one click?
Yes. Click any highlighted phrase to reveal action buttons. Replace swaps it with the suggested alternative (preserving capitalization). For "delete it" suggestions, the phrase is removed and spacing is cleaned up. Keep (dismiss) removes the highlight if you want to keep the original phrasing.

What is a good filler word percentage?
0% = clean. Under 1% = minor bloat. Under 2.5% = some bloat. Under 5% = bloated. 5%+ = very bloated. Most professional writing should aim for under 2.5%. The stats bar shows your exact percentage and estimated words wasted.

Does it catch everything?
No automated tool is perfect. The filler and cliché dictionaries cover the most common offenders but may miss niche jargon or creative expressions. Passive voice detection uses regex + an exception list; it catches most cases but may miss complex constructions or produce rare false positives. Always review suggestions in context.
