What is a teleprompter and how does this one work?
A browser-based teleprompter that auto-scrolls your script at a configurable speaking pace. Paste your text, set your WPM, and hit play. The text scrolls smoothly while you read. You can pause/resume with Space or a tap, adjust speed live with arrow keys, and see your progress via a progress bar and time remaining counter.
+
What is the best WPM setting for my speech?
The default is 140 WPM, which is average for public speaking. Adjust it based on your natural pace and audience. For formal presentations, 120–130 WPM is clearer. For energetic talks, 150–170 WPM works well. You can fine-tune live during playback using the
+ / - buttons or arrow keys.
+
What is mirror mode and when should I use it?
Mirror mode flips the text horizontally so it reads correctly when reflected in a physical teleprompter glass. Enable it before you start if you're using a real teleprompter rig. You can toggle it on/off anytime with the
M key. Learn more about speaking pace →

Can I use this offline?
Yes. Like all ReadCalc tools, the teleprompter is 100% client-side. Once the page is loaded, it works without an internet connection. Your script is stored in your browser's localStorage, so it survives refreshes and browser restarts.
+
What file formats can I upload?
You can drag-and-drop or click to upload
.txt, .md, .csv, or .json files. The text is extracted and placed directly into the teleprompter. You can also copy-paste from any source.
